Since 2012 the Rose-Stimpson Cup has been awarded by the members of the Parish Council to the ‘Parish Resident of the Year’ – the person from Haversham-cum-Little Linford who has done the most for the community over the previous 12 months or so.  The award is presented at the annual Village Show in early September.  The Cup was donated by Gerald and Ena Stimpson (née Rose), former residents of the Parish and Gerald was also long-standing Parish Councillor.  Their daughter still lives in the Parish.

 

Previous recipients have been individuals who have supported various aspects of our community including social activities, clubs and services for the Parish and each and every one of them has been a deserved winner.

 

In 2024 the Parish Council team were not able to identify someone to receive the cup, partly because the ‘rules’ preclude awarding the cup to the same person twice, so that is why we decided to award a special award to Ian Burgess and Lesley Gilbert, both previous winners of the cup, in recognition of their long-standing service to our community over many years.

 

In 2025 we wanted to do something a bit different and asked all Parish residents to consider who they would like to nominate to receive the ‘Parish Resident of the Year Award’.  We intend to do the same in 2026 and nominations will open in due course.  We also continued with the long-standing service to the community award in 2025 and awarded the special award to Jackie Brown.

 

Whilst the final decision on the Parish Resident recipient remains with the Parish Council, we want to hear from you about people who do great things for the community who we may not hear about – our ‘unsung heroes’.

 

In order that we can make the decision in time for the Village Show, we would ask that nominations are submitted by the end of day on 31 July 2026.  The selection remains a secret until the cup is awarded at the Village Show.
